Waves under ocean

Photo: Waves under ocean

The holy Qur’an referred to a new scientific discovery that is in the deep of oceans there are waves and dark, let us read …

Scientists discovered that in the deep of oceans there are deep waves which are different from surface waves. Allah Almighty makes the parable of deeds of atheists and disbelievers as a man who lives in the deep of the sea where he is covered by a layer of deep waves that is covered by a layer of surface waves which is covered by darkness, this likeningis to demonstrate how those atheists by their deeds are far from the light of Allah (following principles and orders of Islam).

Allah Almighty says “ (Or [the state of a disbeliever] is like the darkness in a vast deep sea, overwhelmed with a great wave topped by a great wave, topped by dark clouds, darkness, one above another, if a man stretches out his hand, he can hardly see it! And he for whom Allah has not appointed light, for him there is no light.){Sûrat An-Nûr -The Light –verse 40}.

Glory to Allah, recent scientists found that discovery in 2007 and they didn’t expect that finding. Who told prophet Mohamed peace be upon him about the deep waves? Allah is the teller who says about Himself: ((He Alone) the All-Knower of the Gha'ib (unseen), and He reveals to none His Gha'ib (unseen).*Except to a Messenger (from mankind) whom He has chosen (He informs him of unseen as much as He likes)){Sûrat Al-Jinn -The Jinn -verse26-27}.

New miracle: No one year has more rain than another one,

Photo: New miracle: No one year has more rain than another one,

Allah stated in Glorious Quran, sura al-Hijr [Stone land, Rock City] 15:21, ‘And there is not a thing but its (sources and) treasures (inexhaustible) are with Us; but We only send down thereof in due and ascertainable measures.’ Commentators of the Glorious Quran say: ‘There is no more rain in one year or less than other years. But, some people get rain while others are deprived.’ This interpretation was the opinion of our scholars more than seven centuries ago at a time when Europe was rich in myths and superstition. Our scholars have understood the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger PBUH, to learn that the amount of rainfall every year is fixed and does not change. This is what the scientists in the twentieth century discovered. Our question to those skeptics who believe that the Qur'an is an ordinary book: ‘Where did Ibn Katheer [the renowned scholar of interpretation of Quran] who lived in the sixth century AH brought such information from? The answer is simply, from the Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH, who is reported to have said, ‘There is no specific year that has more rainfall than another, but rather Allah, the Almighty distributes it [i.e. the rainfall].’ [This Hadith is reported by AlHakim] Research has proven that the rainfall average is fixed on annual basis.

Scientists have discovered that the celestial bodies in this universe all move within an intended path or orbit. That is, the sun rotates along its own orbit, and so do the Earth, moon, stars and planets: all travel along a carefully calculated and precise orbit. Even if we take this observation down to atomic level, we find that electrons travel in a defined orbit around the atom’s nucleus, in a manner which resembles the orbital movements found in the solar system! Interestingly, the Qur’an eloquently describes this perfect universal harmony: {Each swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law).} [Yaasin, 36:40].

Cupping: Effective Medical Treatment

Photo: Cupping: Effective Medical Treatment

By: Dr. / Zaghloul El-Naggar

Jabir Ibn 'Abdullah (A.S.) narrated "the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:

"If there is any effective remedy amongst your medical treatments, they are in cupping, drinking honey, and cauterization with the help of fire, but I do not like cauterization (in another narration, "and I prohibit my nation from cauterization.)."

Explanation of the Hadith

Cupping is a form of medical treatment that depends on creating a vacuum on the sick parts, or on certain predetermined zones of the body. Special suction cups, with two openings are used, as air is sucked from one opening, and the other is placed on the determined zone. The skin surface, to which the cup is attached, gets congested with blood through the negative pressure. Very small and superficial incisions are made in this congested skin, the length of which should not exceed 3 centimeters and no more than 1.5 mm in depth and blood is sucked through these incisions.

Cupping was used in many ancient civilizations, including Arabs before Islam. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) approved such use, and later it was transferred to Europe through Muslims in Andalusia, and still used up till today. The Prophet (PBUH) recommended the use of cupping in cases of a severe headache, which leads to an increase in blood pressure. It is also useful in cases of unilateral and migraine, severely twisted joints and generally speaking in cases of severe pain, all of which have been proved through medical research.

Cupping is similar in a way to acupuncture or certain massage techniques, as it stimulates the part suffering from pain to send pulses to the sensory and involuntary control centers in the brain, calling out for help. Immediately as the pulses or signals reach these centers, large amounts of chemicals and hormones are released from the affected part, and are sent to central areas in the brain. The brain sends its orders to various systems, which are responsible for the biological operations in the body, giving them orders to save the affected part. Medical research proved that the best treatment is that which the body performs by itself.

That is why the Prophet (PBUH) said:

"The cupper is a good servant (of Allah), as cupping release blood, relieves the spinal cord and enhances vision."

The fact that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) recommended cupping as an effective way of treatment means the necessity of treating all diseases with all available scientific procedures. The Prophet (PBUH) said:

"There is healing for every illness, so if the right treatment is used, the patient is cured by the Will of Allah,"

And said:

"Take medicine (or treatment) O slaves of Allah! Allah the Almighty has made a cure for every disease, except for death."

Jabir Ibn 'Abdullah narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) was cupped on his thigh because of a severe twisting in his joint.

Anas Ibn Malik narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) was cupped on the back of his foot, while in a state of Ihram, because of a pain he was suffering in his foot. Ibn 'Abbas, moreover, narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) was cupped on his head while, in a state of Ihram, when he suffered from migraine.

Cupping was scientifically proved to be very effective in all the cases described by the Prophet (PBUH).

Housefly Falls into One's Drink

Photo: Housefly Falls into One's Drink!

By: Dr. / Zaghloul El-Naggar

Abu Hurayrah ÑÖì Çááå Úäå narrated, "The Prophet (pbuh) said,

"If a housefly falls into the drink of anyone of you, he should immerse it completely in the liquid, then remove it, for one of its wings has the disease and the other has the cure."

Explanation of the Hadith

This Hadith means that the fly carries on one of its wings a disease, and on the other a cure from the same disease. When a fly falls into a container (of food or drink), it puts forward the wing carrying the microbe, as a self-defense. Imam Ibn Hajar said in his commentary on the hadith that one of the scholars observed that the fly protects itself with its left wing, so it can be deduced that it carries the cure or the antidote on the right wing. So if the fly is immersed in whatever it falls on, the antidote will destroy the venom or the microbe with the will of Allah. Some people are not pleased with the idea of immersing a fly in one's food or drink. However, this can be only applied in cases of emergency. When, for example, someone is in a desert, having only little water or drink. Such a person has no choice but to do as the Prophet recommended. Otherwise, he will die from thirst or infection. If someone disdains eating that food or drink, he does not have to do so, but he does not have the right to disclaim the authenticity of the hadith. The hadith is strongly authentic, as it is narrated by Imam al-Bukhari.

Flies are very common on earth. They are almost 87000 species. It has been scientifically proved that they feed on garbage and waste organic matter of the vast numbers of bacteria, viruses and other various microbes and germs.

Bacteria are very small living organisms. They live in billions in one gram of agricultural land and in millions in one drop of saliva. The effect of bacteria on the biological life on earth is unlimited, without it no crops could grow, and without crops there would be no life for man and animals on earth. Most of the bacteria are harmless, but some cause several diseases.

Viruses are, in fact, nucleic acids (either DNA or RNA). Allah the Almighty gave them the ability to enclose themselves by a protein coat, to form separate units called the "virion". The virus particle or the "virion" has the ability to invade living cells (host cell), inciting them to produce more viruses or destroying the tissues of this host cell. That is why viruses are responsible for many diseases, which affect plants, animals and man.

There is a type of virus, which infects, bacteria cells, known as "Bacteriophage." The killing type of these viruses is known as "Virulent Bacteriophage", while the non-killing type is known as "Temperate Bacteriophage". It is of the Divine Ability of Allah, Glorified be He, to create everything in this universe in pairs, so that, it is only Allah, Who is the One, Who has no partner. Thus, Allah created male and female, day and night, positive and negative, as He created the bacteria and the "Bacteriophage." It is only Allah, Who is the One, Who has no partner.

Allah, the Almighty, gave the fly the ability to carry the germ on one wing and its antidote on the other. Otherwise the fly species would have perished by now, exposed to all these germs. However, they still exist in more than 87000 species.

The fly carries the viruses of many diseases, which are consequently transferred to man's food, drink and body. Of these viral diseases are common flu, measles, mumps, chickenpox, warts, yellow fever, infectious liver diseases, some cases of paralysis, some types of cancer, and some chronic diseases of the central nervous system including multiple sclerosis.

Viruses also cause many diseases, which effect cattle, sheep and birds. Some of these diseases are encephalitis, aphthous fever (foot and mouth diseases) and duck plague, which could be transferred to man through the infected animal. Some crops such as potatoes, tomatoes, bananas and sugarcane can also be destroyed by viral infections.

"The virulent Bacteriophage" kills the bacterial cell that it invades in a very short time. While the "Temperate Bacteriophage" keeps the bacterial cell that it invades alive. It acquires a kind of immunity against the same virus or produce similar viruses. This explains why the fly carries pathogen on one wing and its antidote on the other.

A group of Muslim researchers in Egypt and Saudi Arabia carried several experiments on containers of water, honey and different juices. They exposed them to the flies. Then they immersed some flies in some of these containers. The microscopic examination showed that the liquids in which no flies were immersed were full of bacteria and viruses, while the others where the flies were totally immersed had none.

It was discovered that there are antidotes for pathogens, and that there are various types of bacteria and "Bacteriophages", only in the last decades of the 20th century.

The Prophet Õáì Çááå Úáíå æ Óáã alluded to these 1400 years ago, when humans knew almost nothing of the facts of modern science. But given this type of information with such accuracy, that one wing carries the antidote to the pathogen carried by the other, could only be of the Divine Revelation taught to the Prophet Õáì Çááå Úáíå æ Óáã by Allah the Almighty

When `Ā’ishah heard this, she said: “Is this because they hate death? We all hate death.”

The fire before the last hour

Photo: The fire before the last hour

We have it under our foot in Adan in Yemen !... it is fire….the fire that, according to the Islamic literature, will drive people to their assembly place on the Last Day.

Hudhaifa b. Usaid Ghifari reported: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) came to us all of a sudden as we were (busy in a discussion). He said: What do you discuss about? They (the Companions) said. We are discussing about the Last Hour. Thereupon he said: It will not cone until you see ten signs before and (in this connection) he made a mention of the smoke, Dajjal, the beast, the rising of the sun from the west, the descent of Jesus son of Mary (Allah be pleased with him), the Gog and Magog, and land-sliding in three places, one in the east, one in the west and one in Arabia at the end of which fire would burn forth from the Yemen, and would drive people to the place of their assembly "Book 041, Number 6931"

The spread of the fire, when this volcano erupts, won't be prevented by the existence of the seas as these, in addition to the other seas in the world will turn into fire,. The Holy Quran says what means : "..And when the seas turn into fire."

But Why Adan in Ymen?

Most of the lands of Adan is located in the surrounding sea of the sea, Adan, according to consensus of studies, has been formed as a result of a huge unprecAdanted volcano that broke out and remained erupting for a long time leaving after its extinction a huge crater just like any other volcano, but this one is incomparable, this volcano left behind a huge mountain that contain the crater of that volcano on which the city of Adan in Yemen rests.

It was only when the English conquered Yemen and following the outset of the aviation that the world has discovered that Adan is located on the mouth of this volcano.

Moreover, With the advent of aviation by planes, it has been found that the city is really concave and just as the prophet told us , the English named the city "kraytar",and this was the common name that kraytar, later named Adan, was given.

It is noteworthy that none among the contemporaries of the prophet could ever dare to think that Adan was built on the mouth or the crater of a volcano, moreover; the prophet is talking about the concave shape of Adan.

In 1946, the British Royal Mission headed by professor I.G Gass, after finishing its study on the Adan's volcano , initiated its study saying " ….the present volcanoes are nothing but fireworks, if compared with Adan volcano.

Professor L.G Gass, in his study, goes on to compare the most famous Indonesian volcano that still takes up a large area in the human memory because when it erupted, in 1883, it aftermath is really beyond description; the toll of its victims exceeded 36.000 persons, its detonation went as far as 5.000km, its smoke and dust was so huge and rose high and the sun rays were debarred for more than a week , the island where the volcano happened went into pieces. Scientists estimate the power of this volcano as much as the explosion of one hundred hydrogen bombs. With all of these fearful description, the author compared Adan volcano with that of Indonesia saying:" It is just a kind of fire work if compared with Adan volcano."

In his study" Adan, the History and Civilization in depth" , Marouf Aqouba says:" Adan volcano is one of the six major volcanoes located on one line that extends from Bab Al Mandeb strait and ends at Adan. Some slight eruption, he adds, took place in one of these volcanic centers in the Bird Mountain" Gabel Al-Taheir" that faces Adan.

This volcano goes deep to where the rocks and metals such as iron and Nickel are in molten state. It is now believed that, when this volcano erupted, magma and lava gushed out forming a huge mountain in which the crater of the volcano resides under the city of Adan. This volcano will once again erupt but, at this time, it will be even much more stronger driving people northward to the place where people will assembly on the Doomsday .

The scientific facet:

The prophetic hadith says that the city of Adanis concave-shaped and this was supported by satellite pictures.

The prophet hadith talked about an extinct volcano that will re-erupt before the last hour.

It is known that most of major volcanoes are preceded by earthquakes. Scientists say:"Such earthquakescan be an early warning of volcanic eruptions."

So, in another scientific miracle, the hadith correlates between land sliding and volcanoes .So, where on the earth that culture that knew that there was such relation between earthquakes and volcanoes?

No doubt, It is God, Who informed him of these facts.

From Facebook to God's Book

Photo: ‎From Facebook to God's Book

Many of us have an addictive relationship with Facebook. We check our accounts compulsively, multiple times a day. It is sometimes the last thing many of us do before we sleep and the first thing we do when we wake up; time flies when we’re on it, and it can become obsessive.

Yet how many of us have an addictive relationship—have any relationship—with the Qur’an? This is the Book that transformed alcoholic, oppressive, baby-girl-burying people into callers for justice, defenders of the oppressed, soft-hearted, humble worshippers of the Lord of All the Worlds. If what is contained in this Book brought eternal peace to the hearts and freedom to the souls who were chained to the whims of their own desires, it undoubtedly can emancipate us from our own problems, heartaches and stresses. However, its ability to powerfully impact us may go a lifetime unrealized if we continue to decide that other relationships are more important.

Some of us want to establish a relationship with the Qur’an, but may find it… boring, difficult to understand, or simply not fast enough. We’re used to status updates, pictures and vivid virtual conversations. We prefer fun captions and vivacious images. We prefer real people, an interchange of words and tangible friendships—or at least, Facebook friendships. A lot of us don’t even really know the people we add as friends.

In reality, what we prefer is what the Qur`an already offers and more; it’s just up to us to experience the paradigm shift, with God’s help. Here are a few ways we can tangibly work to establish our relationships with the Qur’an and in doing so, elevate ourselves in this life and in the Next, by the will of God.

From Facebook to God’s Book

What is it about Facebook or other forms of social or popular media that makes us come back, over and over, sometimes multiple times a day—at a minimum? Is it the novelty of reading ever-changing statuses or finding new pictures? Is it feeling appreciated when others comment on our posts? Is it the fun of having instantaneous connections? Is it just boredom? Whatever it is, identify why we keep going back. Then, tweak our reasons for that connection and apply it to the Qur’an.

When we read stories about Noah, Moses, Jesus, Mary, Lot (upon all of whom be peace) — when we read about their struggles or the people who they called to the worship of God, recognize those as the Qur’an’s updates. The conversations that God quotes in the Qur’an, the arguments of the people to their Messengers, those are all comments to posts in the Qur’an’s feed.

Mary (peace be upon her) says something, then God Almighty responds. Jesus (peace be upon him) tells his disciples something and they all start liking and commenting his post. Moses (peace be upon him) posts on Pharaoh’s wall; Pharaoh responds and tags his henchman and is finally completely deleted from Facebook—and the world—in its entirety. God’s Book is more intense, exciting and novel than anything on Facebook. We just need to add it and tag it as our Best Friend.

Sometimes we find Facebook addicting because of our ability to interact with our friends. So let’s find the Qur`an addicting because of our ability to interact with God. When we read God’s Book and we want to like something, say Alhamdulilah (all praise is to God)! We’ll get rewards and be increased in what’s good (Qur`an 14:7). When we personally want to respond to a status, put up our hands and make du`a’ (supplication)! Now, our comment allows for us to directly strengthen our connection with the One Who can hook it all up for us, Who can hear us and will answer us! When we read the descriptions of Paradise and Hell, know that Allah Most High is uploading images for us to focus on and be impacted by; when we’re captivated or horrified by the image, comment through our actions! Do the actions which will include us amongst the ballers in Paradise and keep you from being in the excruciating fire. That type of commenting will bring everlasting results in this life and the Next and, God willing, Allah subahanahu wa ta`ala (exalted is He) will tag us as His homies in this life and the Hereafter.

Make the Qur`an Our Best Friend

Oftentimes, when we’re sad or lonely, when we’re bursting with joy or excitement, when we’re apathetic or just need some down time, we post it. We let everyone know how we’re feeling, what we’re thinking, something that went down in our day or what we wished didn’t go down. We often treat Facebook as a best friend; checking it and reconnecting frequently. Here’s our opportunity to start shifting that connection; let’s start calling Allah’s Book our BEST FRIEND. With ourselves, let’s start using the term, “Best Friend,” for the Qur’an.

If we have a human best friend, think about the way we run to answer their call when we know they’re about to tell us the outcome of a life-changing decision. Think about the way we laugh at inside jokes we post on each other’s walls and comment on a million times over to the annoyance of all our other ‘friends’ whose feeds are overtaken by our conversations. Think about the way that we dial their numbers before anyone else’s, knowing almost with certainty that they will pick up the phone and be there for our comfort.

Now, apply that same understanding of our best friend relationship to the Qur’an. If we take the Qur’an as our Best Friend, we’ll run to it when we see it near, knowing it’s calling us, ready to listen to whatever it wants to share for our own benefit, guidance and happiness. When we’re distraught, feeling lonely or at loss, we’ll go to your Best Friend, hold it to our hearts, open it and begin reading it, reciting from it, reveling in its mind-blowing empathy, its heart-warming sympathy, it’s perfection of wisdom which relates directly to our situations. When we’re excited beyond measure; ready to jump through the roof because we finally got into that school, got that job, regained our health, going to get married to that dream person or had the blessing of a child, we’re going to pick it up and shed tears of joy or words of elation with it, knowing that in reality, we’re going back to the One Who gave us all that we’re excited about in the first place.

Like our best friends, we’ll understand the Qur’an’s inside scoop, its special messages and the guidance it shares with us because we have a special connection that no one else can gauge. Making the Qur’an our best friend begins with a paradigm shift; this is not simply a Holy Book; it’s the pinnacle of our life, it’s our first supporter, our constant companion, our guide, the keeper of our secrets—it’s our Best Friend.

Building Our Relationship

Let’s think about people we’re friends with on Facebook; would we really know about all that’s going on in their lives if they didn’t choose to share pictures of their meals, their vacations, or post about their daily struggles and conversations? Would we really be able to keep up with that many people, some very close friends and some whom we may have met less than a handful of times, if we weren’t in constant connection with them through social media- even if we weren’t actually personally connecting?

But let’s also consider our true best friends. The depth of our friendships likely didn’t happen overnight; we become continuously attached to the person we’ve already connected with because of our consistent ability to reconnect and re-align.

Then what about the Qur’an? How can we expect to know our Creator if we do not even open the social media through which He reveals Himself to us? If we’re willing to read through the posts of people we sometimes barely know, then what about reading through the posts of the One Who created us and all of those people? How can we develop a relationship if we are not willing to consistently converse with the One Who gave us the ability to speak (or sign) at all? How can we expect a depth of friendship to simply just happen with our loving Creator if we are not the ones taking any steps towards embellishing our relationship?

Yet despite the sometimes little attention we give it, the Qur’an’s feed is always beasting, waiting to be our closest homie! Why? Because when we establish a relationship with the Qur’an, we are, in reality, establishing a relationship with the One Who created us and knows us best. He tells us, “I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm’s length, I draw near to him a fathom’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed,” (Hadith Qudsi, Bukhari). When we think about God, when we make an effort to draw nearer to Him, He comes to us with speed. Therefore, let us run to Him through our relationship with the Qur’an!

Here is how we can start: We can set a certain amount of Qur’an that we must read, regardless of the circumstances, every day. Make sure this amount is in a language that we understand. If we can read Arabic and understand some of it, then read the Arabic but also read a translation. God revealed the Qur’an in the language of the Arabs for them to understand it so that they can live by and be transformed by it. Thus, let us read it in a language that will impact our lives, and let us do so daily. From 1 pages to 20, do whatever amount we can do consistently and stick with it because the Prophet ﷺ (peace be upon him) taught us that the best actions are those that are small, but consistent (Bukhari). Reading the Qur’an daily, year-round, is better than reading a ton only in Ramadan and then disregarding it. How can a relationship flourish to its fullest if it is only maintained once a year?

Facebook can be a great networking tool, but if used obsessively, we can become addicted to a media which often brings minute tangible benefits to our lives. Allah’s Book is an incredible networking tool which will connect us to the Creator of the Universe, the One through Whom we can gain tangible benefit in this life and the eternal hereafter. Let’s go to Allah’s Book—to our Best Friend—to the Qur`an—because the best “like” is when Allah (swt) likes your life.

“… Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him – those are the party of Allah . Unquestionably, the party of Allah – they are the successful.” (Qur`an 58:22)

Then he perseveres through this until he reaches the high rank that Allah has decreed for him to reach.” [Ahmad]

Once upon a time two men went fishing. One was a disbeliever and the other was a Muslim. When the disbeliever would throw his fishing net he would take the names of his gods and his net would fill with fish. When the Muslim would throw his net out he would do so with Allah’s name, but no fish would get caught in his net. This state of affairs continued till sunset when, finally, the Muslim caught one fish.

However, this fish jumped out of his hands back into the water. So this poor Muslim had to return home without a single fish, while the disbeliever’s bag was overflowing with fish. On witnessing this strange and sad outcome the angels accompanying the Muslim were upset and asked Allah (subhana wa ta’ala), “O our Lord! How is it that your Momin servant, who takes Your Exalted Name returns empty handed while your disobedient, disbelieving servant returns with such success that his bag is full of fish?”

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) showed the Muslim’s angels the beautiful palace that He had prepared for him in Paradise and asked, “O angel, after reaching this place do you think that any of the anguish and sadness that my Momin servant experienced because of his failure to catch fish will remain with him?”

And showing the horrible place prepared for the disbeliever in Hell, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) asked: “Will those things that were granted to the disbeliever in life, be able to rescue him from the eternal punishment of Hell?”

The angel replied, “O my Lord! I swear by Your existence that this can never happen.” [Imam Ahmad]

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “If Allah has decreed a rank for one of his servants to reach, but his deeds will not suffice him to reach this rank, then Allah afflicts him with hardship with respect to his body, wealth and children. Then he perseveres through this until he reaches the high rank that Allah has decreed for him to reach.” [Ahmad]

The big lie of astrology

For many years people used to believe in astrology, but the right scientific base of astrology is established in the twenty century, let us read …

People who believe in astrology around the world are spending millionsof dollars to predict the future and to analyze the personality.

But what is astrology?

Photo: The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “A Momin cannot have complete faith unless he gives up falsehood in his jokes and debates, though in all other matters he speaks the truth.” [Ahmed]

A person is not at the highest level of honesty till he gives us telling untruths even in jokes and debates.

Once we rid ourselves of lying to our children, lying in ordinary household matters, lying to relatives, lying in business dealings, and lying in the workplace, we need to move on to remove lying from our jokes and lying to substantiate a point that may itself be completely valid.

Eemaan does not allow a person to lie. Lies and Eemaan don’t mix.The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “A Momin cannot have complete faith unless he gives up falsehood in his jokes and debates, though in all other matters he speaks the truth.” [Ahmed]

Allah the almighty said about himself :
"..There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing."

(Quran 42:11)

Please don't waste your time by imagining how Allah looks like , because Allah is different from whatever you imagine .
Try to spend your time in worship , work and dawah until you meet your Lord ...

Miracles about seas in Quran :

The holy verse:

Allah be he exalted says: (Or [the state of a disbeliever] is like the darkness in a vast deep sea, overwhelmed with waves topped by waves, topped by dark clouds, (layers of) darkness upon darkness: if a man stretches out his hand, he can hardly see it! And he for whom Allah has not appointed light, for him there is no light.) [Surat An-Nur, verse: 40].

The explanation of the verse:

God be he blessed and exalted talks in this Quranic text about those who disbelieved in God's verses and denied His meeting and disclaimed the Prophet. So those people and their works that they have done in their lives are like a man that runs behind a mirage, panting behind it and when he reaches it he found nothing but his bad work. And this unbeliever is like a man living in the darkness of a deep sea and can hardly see anything because of the accumulated darkness.

Al-Imam Al-Qurtuby may Allah have mercy on him said: (in a vast deep sea) is the sea that we couldn't see its bottom and vast means the sea when the waves clash. And it was recently discovered that there are interior waves in the deep sees.

Scientific fact:

When scientists went down to the depths of the oceans, they found that deep sees have great darkness. And at the depth of one kilometer one could hardly see something and the darkness increases if the surface sea waves are high as they contribute in blocking the sunlight.

They have also found that at the depths of the deep sees, there are internal waves that no one could see unless he goes down to depths of more than one thousand meters and these waves could be harder than the surface waves.

The point of inimitability:

In this Quranic text there are two scientific signs:

1-Talking about the darkness in the deep sees and this is what scientists have recently discovered and it wasn't known at the time of the coming down of Quran.

2-Referring to the internal deep waves and it was also recently discovered by scientists and it was mentioned in the verse as Almighty God says: (overwhelmed with waves topped by waves).

A sister who is not convinced that having boyfriend is Haram in Islam said:
“Haram love ?!! but our love is "pure" and "innocent" ! Forbidden relationships mean fornication before marriage! But my relationship with him is only through facebook and it never crossed the limits..“
the answer for that is:

Lies! Are they really worth it

Photo: Lies! Are they really worth it.

Abdullah reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Truth leads one to Paradise and virtue leads one to Paradise and the person tells the truth until he is recorded as truthful, and lie leads to obscenity and obscenity leads to Hell, and the person tells a lie until he is recorded as a liar.
Sahih Muslim – Book 32 Hadith 6307

Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d: The Prophet said, “Whoever guarantees me (the chastity of) what is between his legs (i.e. his private parts), and what is between his jaws (i.e., his tongue), I guarantee him Paradise.”
Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 82 Hadith 799

Narrated Sufyan ibn Asid al-Hadrami: I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) say: It is great treachery that you should tell your brother something and have him believe you when you are lying.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood – Book 41 Hadith 4953

The Prophet said, “Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fajur (i.e. wickedness, evil-doing), and Al-Fajur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar.”
Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 73 Hadith 116

Allah’s Apostle said, “The signs of a hypocrite are three: Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie; and whenever he promises, he breaks his promise; and whenever he is entrusted, he betrays (proves to be dishonest)”.
Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 73 Hadith 117

The Prophet said, “Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)”
Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 31 Hadith 127

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: Three (are the persons) with whom Allah would neither speak, nor would He absolve them on the Day of Resurrection. Abu Mu’awiya added: He would not look at them and there is grievous torment for them: the aged adulterer, the liar king and the proud destitute.
Sahih Muslim – Book 1 Hadith 195

Abdullah b. Mas’ud reported that Muhammad (may peace be upon him) said: Should I inform you that slandering, that is in fact a tale-carrying which creates dissension amongst people, (and) he (further) said: The person tells the truth until he is recorded as truthful, and lie tells a lie until lie is recorded as a liar.

Rains and winds in Quran :

Photo: Rains and winds in Quran :

Winds have a vital role in forming clouds and descending rains, this reality was discovered only few years ago , but the Qur'an told us fourteen century ago about that fact, let us read ….

Meteorologists have made many experiments about the mechanism of forming clouds and descending of rains. After many theories they proved that winds have an important role in forming the clouds as it carries water vapor from seas and oceans to the air's upper layers, but the water atoms have to be collected and condensed to form clouds.

Here the winds start to fertilize the clouds, how does it occur? Winds carry dust atoms and fine salt and these atoms ascend to the upper layers (up to many kilometers) where temperature is very low to form drops which make heavy clouds weighing thousands of tons!!

Scientists discovered that clouds in the sky have a huge weight which is up to millions of tons. In spite of that weight clouds still there. Indeed, Allah almighty is the doer of that as He subjected all physical rules like density rule and gravity rule as without these rules clouds might be gone and life on earth will stop.

Thanks God for all of your graces.

Allah almighty had subjected all physical rules to control movement of water, its dissolving and evaporation, the disturbance of any rule may cause the water to goes inside the ground and life to end. Glory to Allah who says: (And we sent down from the sky water (rain) in (due) measure and we gave it lodging in the earth, and verily, we are Able to take it away.)(Sûrat Al-Mu’minûn- verse18).

The Qur'an tells us about the role of winds in fertilizing the clouds, God says: (And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then cause the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We give it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its stores [i.e. to give water to whom you like or to withhold it from whom you like].)(Sûrat A-Hijr- verse22).In this verse we can find many scientific miracles:

1. The word (send) is a precise word from the scientific point of view because sending operation should be organized and that what the scientists had found in the maps of winds distribution which were taken by satellite.

2. Winds fertilize the clouds which cause rains to descend from the sky.

3. The descended water is pure and drinkable.

4. The descended water is stored in great banks underground for millions of years.

All of these fact were summarized in only one verse, the question is: are these precise and eloquent facts a human made?

We have to admit that any disturbance in only one cause of rains will leads to scarcity of sweet water and increase in salt water, then life will be contaminated.

Fourteen years ago no one had got the knowledge about forming rains or knew anything about role of the winds in forming rains, but the new science confirmed all of that.

Hence, mentioning these facts in the Qur'an is a testimony that this book is sincere and that Islam is the religion of truth.

The Places of the Moon (Mansions)

Photo: The Places of the Moon (Mansions)

A real picture of the moon that shows its luminous face and from God's graces to us that He made mansions for this moon so as to know the dates, so He be exalted Said: (And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk).

The holy verse:

God be He exalted says: (And a sign for them is the night. We withdraw there from the day, and behold, they are in darkness, and the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing, and the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk, It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit) [Surat Yasin, verse: 37-40].

The explanation of the verse:

Allah be He blessed and exalted reminds us of His many graces like: the grace of day and night, the grace of the sun and moon, and from His mercy on His that He subjected for them the moon with its mansions, so everything is of precise order and all these creatures float in their orbits and this order never breaks down.

Ibn Kathir said: what is meant by the moon mansions is the places of the moon as the moon when first appears is small then it increases till it becomes full (full moon) then it decreases again till it returns to its first state through one month.

In the explanation of Al-kashaaf the (old dried curved date stalk) means that the moon returns to be like an old curved stem of a palm tree.

Scientific fact:

When we keep looking at the moon all over the month, we notice that every day it takes a new state and place that differs than the next day, and every day the moon rises later than the day before by 50 minutes.

And the beginning of the lunar month is the first place for the moon, and during the rotation of the moon around the earth; the moon receives an amount of sunlight then reflects it to the earth. But because of the different places that the moon takes with respect to the earth, we couldn't see continuously all the reflected light all over the month. But each day we see an amount of reflected light that commensurate with the number of days of the month.

Thus, this precise order is a way for us to know the date and calculations, therefore God be He exalted said: (It is He Who made the sun a shining thing and the moon as a light and measured out for it stages that you might know the number of years and the reckoning. Allah did not create this but in truth. He explains the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail for people who have knowledge) [Surat Yunus, verse: 5].

The point of inimitability:

The places of the moon is from God's graces to us because without those places that let the moon appears to us as a crescent then full moon then it returns back to a crescent then it disappears and without the astronomical positions of the moon that changes according to the days of the month, we could know neither the date nor the days of the month. And here appears the miracle in the Quran words about the mansions.

Mountains as Clouds , Subhan Allah !

Mountains as Clouds , Subhan Allah !

When we look at this mountain, we suppose that it is stable but it actually moves some millimeters every year, therefore God be He exalted said: (And you will see the mountains and think them solid, but they shall pass away as the passing away of the clouds. The Work of Allah, Who perfected all things, verily He is Well-Acquainted with what you do) [Surat An-Naml, verse: 88].

I have some questions for those who accuse Islam of being religion of terrorism and intolerance :

-If we are intolerant , so why is there millions of Christians living in Egypt now even Egypt was taken by muslims in the time of 'Amr ibn al-'As ( around 1500 years ago ) ??

End of the Universe

Photo: End of the Universe

When the Quran descended, no one has known anything about the end of the universe, but the Quran referred to this definite end in His Almighty sayings: (And the Day when We shall roll up the heaven like a scroll rolled up for books. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise binding upon Us. Truly, We shall do it) [Surat Al-Anbiya, verse: 104]. Many scientists today believe that as the universe began, it should have an end.

The verse:

God be he exalted says: (And the Day when We shall roll up the heaven like a scroll rolled up for books. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise binding upon Us. Truly, We shall do it) [Surat Al-Anbiya, verse: 104].

The explanation of the verse:

The verse talks about the end of the universe which means that Allah be He exalted will fold up the sky like folding the books.

So God be He exalted compared the stars to the letters that are written in the books and when the book is folded (i.e., the sky), it will contain within it the letters and words (i.e., the stars, planets, and other creatures).

And this comparison is only to become close to our minds the end of the universe process, but the scene is far greater than this explanation.

Scientific fact:

Scientists have recently found and after years of research and study that the universe has a beginning and an end. The famous scientist Stephen Hawking said: we should conclude from these facts the existence of the beginning of time.

And all findings indicate that there is an end to the universe although astronomers today are divided into two teams; the first believes that there is a definite end to the universe which they call the great crunch and the other team believes that the universe will expand forever.

The point of inimitability:

But since we have faith that the Quran came with the absolute truth, and that God be He exalted told us about the end of the universe so we believe that this will happen. And as the Quran told us this, so it is a miracle of the holy Quran.End of the Universe

When the Quran descended, no one has known anything about the end of the universe, but the Quran referred to this definite end in His Almighty sayings: (And the Day when We shall roll up the heaven like a scroll rolled up for books. Miracle about The Fly

Al-Bukhari and Ibn-Magah narrated that Abu-Horaira said that the Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him said: (If a fly falls into the drink of anyone, he should dip it then remove it, as there is a disease in one of its wings and a cure in the other).

From this Hadith, it was shown that the fly carries on one of its wings the cure. And this is a scientific fact that wasn't known except from only one or two years, but the Prophet peace be upon him referred to this fact in his words: (as there is a disease in one of its wings and a cure in the other). And this is from the signs of prophecy of Mohammad peace be upon him. And this Hadith confirms that He doesn't say anything from himself.

Guarding the Borders of Muslim Land

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, "Everyone who dies has his actions sealed, except for the one guarding the border in the way of Allah - his actions continue to increase for him until the Day of Resurrection and he is saved from the trials of the grave." [Abu Dawud]

“I advise you to fear Allah. I advise you to adhere to the Qur’an – for it is light in the darkest of nights and it is guidance during the day. Apply it.. but if a trial such as poverty comes to you, give precedence to your religion over wealth. If that trial worsens, continue to put your religion before your wealth and your soul, for indeed the only one who is destroyed is the one whose religion is destroyed; the one who is poor is the one who has lost his religion. Know that there is no poverty after Paradise and there is no richness after the Hellfire.”

Increase your Love

 Photo: Increase your Love

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “By Him in whose hand is my soul, none of you will enter Paradise until you believe (have eeman), and none of you will believe until you love each other. Shall I not tell you of something which if you do, will create love among you? Increase the custom of greeting each other with ‘as-Salamu alaykum.’” [Sahih Muslim]

Let us increase our love for each other with this simple formula. Loving our brothers and sisters, will help us gain eeman/belief and belief is the key to Paradise. Additional recommended etiquettes of greeting are that, "The younger person should greet the older one, and the walking person should greet the sitting one, and the small number of persons should greet the large number of persons." [Sahih Bukhari]

How Mountains Strengthen The Earth's Crust

Photo: How Mountains Strengthen The Earth's Crust

The Earth's crust, the surface on which we daily walk and build our houses safely, in fact moves on a layer called the mantle which is denser than the crust. If there was not a system in place to keep this motion under control, continual shocks and quakes would occur on the Earth and the world would be a truly unlivable place. And yet, the mountains and their extensions under the ground greatly decrease underground movements, and hence such shocks.

The Earth's mountains have come about as a result of movements and clashes of huge plates which make up the planet's crust. When two of these plates collide, one usually slides under the other. The plate on top is pushed up and so forms mountains. At the same time, the plate at the bottom proceeds under the ground and forms a deep protrusion. This means that mountains have deep downward protrusions that are as large as those visible on the surface. In other words, mountains are firmly rooted in the Earth's layer called the mantle.

Therefore, mountains effectively clench the Earth's plates by stretching above and below the ground at the conjunctions of these plates. In this way, mountains prevent the crust of the Earth from sliding on the magma layer or between its own layers. In short, we may compare mountains to nails firmly holding pieces of wood together. This characteristic of the mountains, through counteracting the unstable nature of the Earth's crust, prevents shocks to a significant degree.

These magnificent-looking mountains also have other roles to play in maintaining certain balances on the Earth, especially in dispersing heat.

The temperature difference between the equator and the Earth's poles is about 212 F0. If such a difference arose on the surface level, storms at blinding speeds reaching 621 miles per hour would devastate the Earth. However the uneven surface of the Earth blocks strong air currents that such heat differences could cause. These mountain ranges begin with the Himalayas in China, continue with the Taurus mountain range in southern Turkey, and then again up into the Alps of Europe. The mountain ranges of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans also figure into this equation.

Like all other details on the Earth, what is manifested in the mountains is part of the endless art of God. God has created the world where we live in a perfect way. Seeing these magnificent examples, what man must acknowledge is that the most important fact of his life is his duty to serve God and to work for this and this alone. Because man is in need of countless blessings, whereas God is Rich Beyond Need.

Innocent Till Proven Guilty

 Photo: Innocent Till Proven Guilty

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Ward off hudood as much as you can. If you find any way out for a Muslim then set him free. If the Imam makes a mistake in granting forgiveness it is better for him than that he should make a mistake in imposing punishment.” [Tirmidhi, Ahmed]

The purpose of exemplary punishment is that it should be an effective deterrent. Having millions of people in jails is not the sign of a good judicial system or a healthy, moral society. In the 1300 years of the Khilafah only a couple of hundred hands were cut off for theft! The low number of thefts this signifies is the sign of a healthy society. Regarding the implementation of hudood, however, many conditions must be met, e.g. theft does not count in a famine. In addition, where evidence is not compelling the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) laid down the following principle: To free someone criminal mistakenly is better than to punish someone innocent mistakenly.

Magnificence Of The Luminous Creatures

Photo: Magnificence Of The Luminous Creatures

One of the best-known luminous creatures is the firefly. Scientists have spent years of research trying to produce a light as efficient as the light produced by fireflies. Fireflies achieve maximum efficiency and lose almost no energy.

In fact, it is quite amazing that a creature is able to produce light yet, at the same time, is not affected by the heat of this light. Because, as we know, during light production made by today's technology, heat certainly is created and this heat is emitted outside as thermal energy. Therefore, for this reason, creatures which produce light should also suffer harm due to exposure to high heat. However, the creatures producing light are not affected by the heat they produce, because it is weak.

They produce a kind of light called "cold light" and their body structures are designed accordingly.

Fireflies are actually a type of beetle which produces yellowish-green lights by means of chemical reactions inside their bodies. Fireflies, which flash their lights to recognize one another or to give mating signals, use different lengths of flashes according to their species. In addition, in some species, it is the male who flashes first to attract the female, while in other species, the females do the "calling." Some fireflies use their lights in self-defense. They flash to warn enemies that their taste is unappetizing.

Besides fireflies, a number of other insects, various sea creatures, and many other types of species produce their own light. Each species has different characteristics. These include the manner of light production, the fields of their usage of light, and the lengths and kinds of light they produce.

Who furnished these creatures with systems through which they produce the type of light they can make use of, and then maintains the continuation of these systems? It is not, of course, the creatures themselves. It is not possible for complex organs capable of producing light yet not harming the creatures of which they are part in the process to have come into being as the result of coincidences.

All luminous creatures are evidence of the superior power of the creation of Allah. Allah introduces us, through these creatures He has created, to the evidence of His endless knowledge, wisdom and might.

Give a Smile Instead of Chocolate

Photo: Give a Smile Instead of Chocolate

Ibn Jaz said: “I have not seen anyone who smiled more than the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam).” (Hasan) [Chapters on Al-Manaqib: Jami At-Tirmidhi]

What do you gain when you smile? When you smile, the actual movement triggers the brain’s pleasure points. Smiling causes endorphins, which are known as the body’s natural painkillers, to be released. Not surprisingly, endorphins are also released when laughing, exercising, eating chocolate, getting massaged, meditating, to just about anything that leaves a smile on your face. A smile makes a person feel as good as eating 2000 bars of chocolate.

Research shows that after being shown pictures of smiling people, the brain and heart activity of participants is equal to that when given 2,000 chocolate bars. So the next time you think of giving someone chocolate, give a smile instead – it will do 2,000 times better.

Research has also shown that women who showed an intense happiness in their smiles indicated a happier future. When we smile our voices project a warmer tone. So if you smile while speaking you are likely to have a better conversation. Smiling is also a ticket to better health. Numerous medical and psychological studies have found that through the triggering of certain hormones, a smile promotes good overall health. This leads to lower heart rates, steady breathing and the ability to smile through stressful situations.

Smiling has been found to boost levels of the neurotransmitter, serotonin. It is a vital part of regulating our moods, sleep, sexuality and appetite. Thus, serotonin helps to keep us healthy and happy which in turn produces more smiles. The physical act of smiling can use as little as 5 muscles or well over 16 and just like any muscle the more you use it, the stronger it is. Body builders shape their physique so their muscles are defined without even flexing. Similarly, maintaining a healthy smile will define an expressive, happy face. Smiling is contagious; when you smile it makes others smile, so you spread the happiness and well being around!

Jarir ibn Abdullah said: “I did not see the Prophet, since I embraced Islam, without a smile on his face. I saw him smiling when he could not see me and he would smile in my presence.” [Sahih Bukhari]

Give a Smile Instead of Chocolate

Ibn Jaz said: “I have not seen anyone who smiled more than the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam).” (Hasan) [Chapters on Al-Manaqib: Jami At-Tirmidhi]

THE STRUCTURAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE SUN, THE MOON AND THE STARS

THE STRUCTURAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE SUN, THE MOON AND THE STARS

We built seven firm layers above you. We installed a blazing lamp. (Qur'an, 78:12-13)

As we know, the only source of light in the Solar System is the Sun. With advances in technology, astronomers discovered that the Moon was not a source of light but that it merely reflects the light reaching it from the Sun. The expression "lamp" in the above verse is a translation of the Arabic word "sirajan," which most perfectly describes the Sun, the source of light and heat.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MOVEMENT IN SLEEP

You would have supposed them to be awake, whereas in fact they were asleep. We moved them to the right and to the left, and, at the entrance, their dog stretched out its paws. If you had looked down and seen them, you would have turned from them and run, and have been filled with terror at the sight of them. (Qur'an, 18:18)

The above verse refers to the People of the Cave, who remained asleep for hundreds of years. In addition, Allah also reveals that He moved their bodies to the left and right. The wisdom of this was only discovered in recent times.

People who remain lying down in the same position for long period of time encounter serious health problems, such as circulation difficulties, sores, and blood clotting in that part of the body in contact with the surface on which they lie.

The resulting sores are known as "bed sores" or "pressure sores." Due to the constant pressure on one part of the body when one is not moving for a long period of time, the blood vessels become constricted and can close altogether. As a result, the oxygen and other nutrients carried by the blood fail to reach the skin, and the skin begins to die. This leads to the appearance of sores on the body. Unless these sores are treated, fat and muscles can also die.

These sores, which form under the skin or tissue, can assume serious dimensions unless treated. If they become infected, they can even lead to death. The healthiest thing to do, therefore, is to change the position of the body every 15 minutes in order to reduce this pressure. Patients who cannot move themselves therefore receive special care and are moved every 2 hours by other people. The fact that these medical facts, only discovered in the last century, are referred to in the Qur'an is yet another of its miracles.

Intelligent Retaliation

Aisha (radi Allahu anha) narrated: “The Jews used to greet the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) by saying, ‘As-Saamu alaika (i.e., death be upon you),’ so I understood what they said, and I said to them, ‘Alaikumus-saamu wal-la’natu (i.e., death and Allah’s curse be upon you).’ The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, ‘Be gentle and calm, O Aishah, as Allah likes gentleness in all affairs.’ I said, ‘O Allah’s Prophet! Didn’t you hear what they said?’ He said, ‘Didn’t you hear me answering them back by saying, ‘Alaikum (i.e., the same be upon you)?’” [Sahih Bukhari]

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was aware of what was being said to him. And he retaliated; but intelligently - without causing a big stir. Without using the bad words the Jews used for him, he returned their evil wishes on them. Thus, he set an example of the tone and manner in which a Muslim responds to provocation.

Think of how reactive we are. We immediately jump at the throat of whoever hurts us. Our voices are raised, our tone becomes harsh. Our reproach is not characterized by calmness or gentleness, although it is possible to retaliate in a mild manner as well. Retaliating while forcing oneself to remain in a calm state ensures that we do not transgress the limits of revenge and become sinful ourselves by overstepping the bounds of the lawful.

He who uses foul language should think of himself as a Munafiq (hypocrite) as the use of coarse and evil language, while in a disagreement, is a particular characteristic of the hypocrites. To be a hypocrite is worse than to be a Kafir.

THE MIRACLES OF SMELL AND TASTE

THE MIRACLES OF SMELL AND TASTE

Can you remember all the pleasant aromas you have ever smelled over the course of your life? A great many will come to mind: those emitted in spring by roses, carnations, lilac, jasmine, lavender, grass and other plants; those wafted abroad by orange, mandarin and lemon trees; the bewitching scents of certain perfumes; the delightful smells of assorted spices; the rich aromas of fresh or fried bread, tomatoes, eggs, olives, tea, coffee or milk when you come to breakfast in the morning and; the smell of meat sizzling on a barbecue, or a bar of fresh, clean soap . . .

 Photo: Defending One’s Property

A person came to Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) and said: ‘Rasul Allah, what do you say if a man comes to me in order to appropriate my possessions?’
Rasul Allah said: ‘Don't surrender your possessions to him.’
The inquirer asked: ‘If he fights me?’
Rasul Allah remarked: ‘Then fight (with him).’
The inquirer again asked: ‘What do you think if I am killed?’
Rasul Allah said: ‘You would be a martyr.’
The inquirer said: ‘What do you think of him, if I kill him.’
Rasul Allah said: ‘He would be in the Fire.’” [Muslim]

It is our right to defend that which Allah has blessed us with. Muslims are told not to surrender their lives, properties, families or Islamic lifestyles to usurpers. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) tells us to defend our families, properties and religion. If we are victorious we maintain control over what is ours. Should we die in the process of defending any one of these things, then it is the best death of a shaheed/martyr. This should be a great source of hope for us in these turbulent times when crime is on the rise and invasion of Muslim lands a source of catastrophe.

Phases of the Day of Judgment

Phases of the Day of Judgment

Concerning the Day of Judgment and its horrors, Allaah the Almighty Says (what means): {O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allaah is severe.}[Quran 22:1-2]

Anas Bin Maalik said:

While we were in the masjid with the Messenger of Allaah, a Bedouin came; he then urinated in the masjid.

The Companions of the Messenger of Allaah said, “Mah Mah (An expression used to severly scold someone, to indicate the graveness of a matter).”

The Messenger of Allaah said, “Do not put a halt to his urinating, but instead leave him.”

They left him alone until he finished urinating.

The Messenger of Allaah called him over and said to him, “Any kind of urine or filth is not suitable for these masjids. Instead they are only [appropriate] for the remembrance of Allaah, the Prayer, and the recitation of the Qur’aan,” or this is near to what the Messenger of Allaah said.

He (saw) then issued an order to a man from the people, who then came with a bucket of water, which he poured over the [effected] area [of the masjid].

Dua

 Photo: Dua

“Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) said that the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) used to teach them this supplication in the same way that he used to teach them a Surah of the Quran. He would say: ‘O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of Jahannum and I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave. I seek refuge with You from the trial of the Masih ad-Dajjal and I seek refuge with You from the trials of life and death.’” [Sahih Muslim]

Firstly, this hadith tells us that the punishment of Jahannum is a reality, the punishment of the grave is a reality, the Fitnah of Dajjal (anti-Christ) is something very serious, and that there are trials in both life and death.

Secondly, this hadith also indicates the severity of various punishments and trials. The order in which the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) sought refuge from them is indicative of their seriousness. The worst that could happen to a person is that they get thrown into Jahannum. The next worst thing that could happen to them is for them to be punished in their grave. Then comes the severity of the Fitnah of Dajjal, then other trials that afflict people at different times in their lives.

Even without revelation the Arabs knew that strange things happened in graves. If their horses got stomach ailments they would take them to graveyards. The horse would jump and twist so violently that its cramps would straighten away. The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told us that the punishment of the grave is heard by all creatures except men and Jinn, and that if we were cognizant of it we wouldn’t bury our dead.

The greatest trial of the living will be at the hands of Dajjal. Other than that there are numerous trials people go through as a result of which they are purified of their sins, as metal is purified from its ore through burning.

Trials also separate the wheat from the chaff. People will be rewarded according to the level of suffering they have patiently borne, and the trials they have dealt with keeping their Eeman intact.

We should try to keep the ingredients of this Dua in our prayers.
